The pineapple was a rare and expensive fruit in the colonies, and symbolized the spirit of hospitality. As such, it was a popular and recurring design motif in eighteenth century decorative arts--and still the sign of hospitality today. The colorful floral design of the Portsmouth Pineapple is interpreted from an early nineteenth-century wallpaper in the collection of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. The lamp features gold highlights. Hexagon shaped lucite base. Porcelain lamp. Aged brass finished ball finial. 3 way switch. 100 watt bulb max. Shade: Empire soft back shade with single fold trim. Off white polyester fabric shade. Brass spider. 13" x 17" X 11"SH. Materials: porcelain .

At Port 68, our porcelain pieces are handcrafted and fired at extremely high temperatures, and as a result, slight variations may occur. The glaze color of the finished product may differ slightly from the images displayed online.
